Nobody Was Happier About West Brom Losing Today Than James McClean's Girlfriend

The next time James McClean's girlfriend Erin sees Paul McShane, she'll probably kiss him.

McShane scored the equaliser for Reading in their FA Cup 5th round tie against West Brom on Saturday as the Championship side progressed to the next phase with a 3-1 win.

The reason for McClean's girlfriend's delight was matrimony-related.

This year's FA Cup Final is slated for May 21st. The Irish international's marriage to Erin is scheduled for the previous day.

Speaking to The Derry Journal on Friday, McClean explained his predicament going into today's game.

We booked the wedding last year when I was at Wigan for May 20th and the FA Cup Final falls on May 21st, so she’s hoping we get beat every time we play a cup game.

She’s the only person who doesn’t want to see us reach the final. We might have to get married at half-time or after the game, maybe, should we get there. You can imagine when I told her the final was the day after our wedding date - she wasn’t exactly jumping for joy, put it that way. But she understands.

I’ve a lot to look forward to this summer so, hopefully, it’s a time I can look back on with a lot of happy memories in the future.
