There have been a few times during James McClean's career where he's found himself on the end of quite a bit of criticism. Perhaps it's unfair and over the top, perhaps he brings it on himself, but one thing you could never criticise the Derry man for is forgetting where he comes from.
The West Brom winger has decided to give back to his local GAA Club in Creggan in Derry by agreeing to sponsor a new kit for the senior team.
Sean Dolans GAC club stalwart Danny Cassidy told the Derry Daily:
James Mc Clean, a true son of Creggan, has agreed to sponsor a new senior rig for Sean Dolans.
James is a credit to the Creggan area and is a real friend of Sean Dolans GAC! Hopefully, when we get the rig James will present it to the Senior team. It makes our task of rebuilding the club a hell of a lot easier when we have the likes of James to support us.
Another clubs spokesman echoed these words for thanking McClean for his generous act:
Fair play James for not forgetting your roots and thanks very much.
That's definitely one thing you can say about McClean, and it's a great gesture from the Republic of Ireland winger.
