Rumour was rife on Twitter yesterday that James McClean had been sent home by Wigan ahead of their game against Yeovil as he had refused to wear a poppy on his jersey for Remembrance Sunday.
Paul Kendrick, a football writer with the Wigan Evening Post has tweeted quotes from Owen Coyle following the game. The Wigan manager clears up that the reason for McClean not being involved was a dead leg and nothing else.

Last season McClean refused to wear a poppy on his shirt while playing for Sunderland in a 2-1 loss to Everton.
