James McClean and Wigan continue to fight for Championship survival, but the Irishman had more pressing priorities to attend to on Monday ahead of their clash with Blackburn.

McClean's wife Erin gave birth to the couple's fourth child on Monday morning, and the 96-times capped Ireland international was present. After a long day, he would play the full 90 minutes against Blackburn, as his Wigan side ground out a 0-0 draw.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, James was visibly exhausted - but noted that he was not the McClean who had put in the biggest shift on Monday.

McClean would put in a solid shift at left wing-back for Wigan, as they held on for a draw away to the play-off chasing Rovers, but there were understandably more important things going through the Irishman's mind at full-time.

Sky Sports spoke to McClean at full-time and, after being congratulated on the birth of his daughter, McClean explained the whirlwind of his Monday. When asked to explain the day he had had, McClean said:

Eh...long, for starters!

Nah, look, if I stood here and complained, I think I'd get a slap off my missus! She's the one that's done all the hard work today, she's been absolutely brilliant. Four babies now. It's been a good day.

Sky's reporter noted that McClean and his son were now outnumbered 4-2 by the girls in the house, and McClean had a quick response:

I was outnumbered anyway - she's the boss!

It's absolutely a special day. To come here and get a result obviously tops it off. So, yeah - it's been a good day!

McClean's wife Erin would share a beautiful photo of the pair's new arrival to her Instagram page.

Erin was not quick to let James McClean off the hook for racing off to Ewood Park, however, sharing a brilliant tweet saying that her husband now owed her a week of night feeding sessions with the latest addition to the McClean household.

No doubt James McClean will now take some time to spend with his wife and now four children to celebrate Monday's brilliant news, especially after working for a hard-earned point on the pitch on Monday evening.

Wigan sit on the bottom of the Championship table, on just 26 points, but are only three points from safety. It's set to be a tight relegation battle, and results like Monday's at Ewood Park will do wonders for James McClean and co. down the road.
