Republic of Ireland international James McCarthy looks set to leave Everton after Marco Silva signed Fabian Delph earlier this summer.
McCarthy failed to force his way back into the team after recovering from a lengthy injury spell and the 28-year-old was linked to a January loan move which failed to materialise. Now, per Sky Sports, the midfielder is a target for Crystal Palace who have submitted an £8 million offer.
The move would help McCarthy's international aspirations as well. Ireland boss Mick McCarthy said as much last March when asked about the Everton player's exclusion from his squad.
He’s just not been playing. I did speak to him and I think he wants to sort out his own career and future this summer.
I have got other midfield players in the team so I’m hardly likely to knock Jeff Hendrick or Conor Hourihane or Glenn Whelan out for him at this moment in time.
They are not the only Premier League club in pursuit of James McCarthy. Per TalkSport, new Newcastle manager Steve Bruce is also interested.
