Ireland international James McCarthy is likely to join Crystal Palace on loan today.
The Irish Independent's Daniel McDonnell reports that the chance to remain in the Premier League appeals to McCarthy.
The move will hopefully see the 28-year-old receive some badly needed minutes on the pitch.
It is now more than a year since McCarthy suffered a double leg fracture against West Brom which has since kept him out of action.
He was an unused substitute in the FA Cup game against Lincoln City earlier this month and also for Tuesday night's game against Huddersfield but is yet to play under Marco Silva.
The Portuguese manager said of McCarthy month, "He is a worker and I really like him."
McCarthy has also been linked with West Ham, Fulham, West Brom and Celtic.
However, his £50,000 per week wages are said to have been a barrier to the Glaswegian-born midfielder playing at Parkhead.
