With a Europa League semi-final against Sevilla on the horizon, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is undoubtedly focused on winning his first trophy as Manchester United manager but the Norwegian must also be thinking about his summer recruitment too.
Since Jose Mourinho's departure, United's transfer activity hasn't been perfect but it has been much better with the arrivals of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Harry Maguire, and especially Bruno Fernandes making a big difference.
However, it appears that an attacker is at the top of Solksjaer's shopping list this summer and England international Jadon Sancho is the man that he wants.
So far, United have been unwilling to meet Dortmund's asking price and speaking after a recent win over Austrian side Altach in a friendly, Sancho expressed his happiness at the club, just days after Dortmund chief Michael Zorc claimed he would be staying at the club despite United's interest.
Speaking after the game with BVB-TV, Sancho said: "I love playing with this lot. This is a special bunch and we have some special young players coming up. I am really happy to be sharing the pitch with them and guide them, because I was in their shoes and I know how it is for them."
“I joined [Dortmund] when I was 17,” the England star added. “Some of the lads are the same age now. I’ve been there and done that. I can guide them in what’s good and what isn’t. I can hopefully motivate them as well.”
Sancho played 45 minutes in Dortmund’s 6-0 win over Altach and the club anticipates that the 20-year-old will see out his contract at the Westfalenstadion.
On Monday, Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc appeared to rule out a potential transfer, telling reporters: "We plan on having Jadon Sancho in our team this season, the decision is final. I think that answers all our questions. Last summer we adjusted Jadon’s salary to match the development of his performances. So in context, we had already extended his contract until 2023 back then."
We've a feeling that this saga might drag on.
