Jack Grealish made the fundamental mistake on Saturday night of appearing to enjoy himself, despite Aston Villa having lost badly to Everton earlier in the day.
It led to video - acquired by the Daily Mail - being splashed all over the internet on Monday and Tuesday.
The most egregious act which the 20-year-old commits in the video is enthusiastically (and badly) singing into the camera.
Still, he has, according to the Daily Telegraph, been punished by Aston Villa manager Remi Garde.
The Frenchman apparently 'banished' Grealish to train with the Villa U21s on Tuesday and his squad place for this weekend's clash with Watford is now at risk.
Circumstances which may have led Garde to take this decision, say the Telegraph, are Grealish also 'allegedly partying' on Sunday at a Birmingham hotel.
The best thing Grealish could do is to find some new friends who do not sell footage of his nights out to the Daily Mail.
