Jack Charlton's funeral procession has passed through his hometown of Ashington, Northumberland before making the short journey to a crematorium in Newcastle where a small, private service will take place.
In normal times, Charlton's funeral would have been a grand occasion with mourners from all over Ireland and England, but in current circumstances that was not possible. It was therefore fitting to see the response that Jack got from his hometown where hundreds of residents packed the streets to bid farewell to their local hero.
Jack's hearse, followed by close family members, passed by his mother's house as well as Hirst Park where he played football as a kid.
Jack's brother Bobby was among the mourners and acknowledged the crowd gathered.
Jack's son John had urged people attending the procession to socially distance and though it appears to have had a mixed results going by the videos and pictures, it's certainly feels appropriate that Jack Charlton's hometown was able to come out in force to honour one of their greatest sons.

John Jennings lives in Newcastle but is from Dublin and has brought sons John and Cian to pay their respects. He said: “Jack Charlton is an absolute legend in Ireland. We’ll never forget the 1990s. He brought us the best we’ll probably ever get.” pic.twitter.com/DoSjZqePgV

To mark the funeral in Ireland, Irish radio stations will be playing Put 'Em Under Pressure at 12.30. So why not get out to your doorstep and blast it one last time to honour the man who brought so much to Irish sport and Irish life?
