ITV's Gabriel Clarke was interviewing Jose Mourinho after Real Madrid beat Borussia Dortmund 2-0 but lost out 4-3 on aggregate in the Champions League semi-final.

After Jose had spoken about his disappointment at Howard Webb not having sent off Mats Hummels, Clarke was about to wrap things up but threw one final question at Mourinho asking if he would be at Madrid next season.

He responded, "maybe not". The interview had just gotten very interesting. Clarke then asked what his destination might be, to which he replied "where people love me to be".

Everybody was hooked. Don't stop now Gabriel, this could be one of the best interviews of your career.

What you really shouldn't say right next is "we'll take that as England, I've got to go". You've got Jose Mourinho standing there, possibly about to tell you where he wants to manage next season and you walk off. It's the sports interviewers equivalent of coitus interruptus.

Cutting away to hear Adrian Chiles talk was definitely more important than this.

In the same way that Geoff Shreeves will never be allowed to forget that interview with Branisalv Ivanovic after last season's Champions League semi-final, Gabriel Clarke will surely never be allowed to forget this one.
