ITV have released a statement on their website defending Gabriel Clarke's now infamous interview with José Mourinho.
'Our reporter Gabriel Clarke managed to land an unexpected interview with Jose Mourinho with only two minutes left before the end of last night's Champions League programme on ITV.
At that stage it was too late to arrange an overrun of the broadcast beyond the allotted time. However, in a very tight, live situation, we showed as much as we possibly could of their exchange to viewers.'

Considering Mourinho's love affair with the English media and the fact that RTÉ have been able to secure post match interviews with Mourinho in the past, it seems a little disingenuous to claim the interview was 'unexpected'.
Even if the interview was 'unexpected', its also hard not to be sceptical that ITV couldn't have have delayed the News At Ten for a minute or two to let José wax lyrical about his future.
