We didn't have to wait too long for the obligatory facebook page in support of a footballer who has been convicted of a serious offence.
The originator of this marvel is Faye Johnson, sister of Adam.
You might not be surprised to learn that Faye is of the view that a gross miscarriage of justice was committed in the courtroom last week and has called on Facebook to rally behind her footballer brother with the slogan 'Justice for Johnson'.
Facebook was swift in whipping down the appeal page, entitled 'the Adam Johnson Appeal Fight Page' but not before it had accumulated over 1,000 likes.
Undeterred, she changed her own profile photo and urged others to follow. It also coined (it's that the right word) the #hashtag 'Team AJ' - a grouping which will no doubt attract numbers of the internet.
The picture includes the message.
Change your profile picture to support Adam Johnson’s appeal. Facebook removed our group but we will not stop publicising our support #TeamAJ”
Johnson was convicted of one count of sexual activity with a child. Johnson admitted kissing and grooming the 15-year-old schoolgirl and was found guilty of one count of sexual activity with a child. He was cleared of one further count.
He has yet to be sentenced though the Judge has said that his preliminary view was the offence fell under the category of a five to ten-year prison sentence.
