With Real Sociedad sitting two spaces above the relegation zone in La Liga, they have bid goodbye to their manager David Moyes.
Hired on an eighteen month contract, he managed the club for a total of 364 days.
Moyes was sacked following the 2-0 loss to Las Palmas at the weekend. Las Palmas sat bottom of the table before the weekend, but managed to lift themselves out of that position with the help of Sociedad.
From yesterday evening onwards, reports had indicated that he was to be sacked inside the next 24 hours. Word of his sacking came through in the past few minutes.
Appointed on 10 November last year, he assumed control of the club when they sat 15th in the table, hovering just above the relegation zone. He managed to lift them to 12th spot, comfortably securing their top flight status.
This year, he lives the club roughly where he found them when he arrived.
The Guardian's Spanish football expert Sid Lowe has concluded that Moyes wasn't tactically minded enough for his players' liking and that, while he talked of embracing Spanish football culture, he didn't change enough for his new surroundings.
