Avellino beat Perugia 2-0 yesterday moving into 16th place in Italy's second tier, but it was the stadium announcer for the club that has made headlines after making a sarcastic comment about the amount of time added on at the end of the game. The announcer wasn't best pleased with the seven additional minutes added by the referee, and in the aftermath of the match, the club have been hit €1,000 fine for the announcer's actions.
In the disciplinary report, Serie B charged Avellino with the fine after “the stadium announcer, in the course of a communication to the public, was sarcastic about the injury time added on by the match referee in the second half”.
