Hull fans were distraught when news broke that Paul McShane had been released last week. While they didn't quite start the riot that had been threatened, they certainly made their feelings very clear about the club's decision.
It looked like McShane would be a serious asset to Hull in their bid to get back to the Premier League. However, not only will they not have McShane, it looks like they'll have to cope with seeing him attempt to get Reading back into the Premier League instead.
Reading boss Steve Clarke has flown to Ireland this week to have talks with McShane about replacing fellow Ireland international Alex Pearce who is set to join Derby County on a free transfer as early as today.

Pearce who has five caps and two goals for Ireland has been out of favour since Martin O'Neill took charge. However, a move to Derby, who are expected to challenge for the Championship title next year, could reignite his hopes of adding to his five caps.
