David De Gea seems set to return to his home city and take over as Real Madrid no. 1 from Iker Casillas after Spainish daily Marca reported yesterday that De Gea and Madrid had reached an agreement on personal terms on a contract that will be either 5 or 6 years. The paper also claims that all that is left to finalise the deal is for Manchester United and Real Madrid to agree a fee with the feeling being that €30m will eventually get the deal over the line as De Gea only has one year left on his contract.
It will no doubt be a hammer blow to United to lose their runaway player of the season but manager Louis Van Gaal confirmed in his press conference yesterday that he already has a list of names should De Gea's likely departure come to pass. More than one outlet suggests today that Petr Cech and Hugo Lloris are at the top of that list:
