Reports are circling that Liverpool have already tied up a £3 million deal to bring Mexican World Cup hero Guillermo Ochoa to Anfield. The goalkeeper was one of the stars of the summer with a string of impressive performances for his country in Brazil.
His status as a free agent made him an interesting proposition for a number of clubs, however it was Malaga who signed him up to replace Man City bound Willy Caballero. The only problem has been that since then, the Mexican has played second fiddle to Carlos Kameni in the south of Spain to such an extent that he hasn't actually played a La Liga game.
However, if the substantial number of reports are to be believed, Brendan Rodgers has earmarked Ochoa as the man to solve Liverpool's goalkeeping crisis.
Rumours of the move began circling on Sunday when Ochoa followed Liverpool's Twitter account after the 3-0 defeat to Man Utd.
Although that's a very tenuous link, it seems it may have taken a step forward from there with Brendan Rodgers apparently ready to put his trust in the Mexican as soon as possible.
Although there's no doubt a new goalkeeper is needed, the possibility of Ochoa being that man has not been met with a ringing endorsement.
Ochoa. Yay another gamble on potential in a position we need quality. This club never learns. It's like our scouts do no actual research.

Ochoa won't be an improvement for Liverpool. great shot stopper but not a good goalkeeper overall

Ochoa only signed for Malaga on a free transfer 4 months ago. He's hardly played for them since then. Questions marks there, surely. #LFC

@Mootaz_LFC Valdes was definitely someone I wanted. Ochoa reminds me of Mignolet to much, great at times but just not complete overall.
