With Jurgen Klopp's time at Liverpool quickly coming to a close, the club are now in the midst of the search for his successor at Anfield.
It was thought that Xabi Alonso was their preferred choice to succeed the German, although he has since opted to remain at Bayer Leverkusen for another season. It now appears as though Sporting Lisbon boss Ruben Amorim is the favourite for the job, with the 39-year old not exactly shutting down those rumours when asked about them this week.
Liverpool would face competition for Amorim's signature, with the manager also linked with Barcelona and Bayern Munich in recent days.
If they do not bring him onboard, someone has suggested a rather unlikely alternative.

Irishman tipped as 'dark horse' to replace Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool
Kieran McKenna has done a fantastic job since taking charge of Ipswich Town, leading them to promotion from League One last season and having them on course to be promoted to the Premier League this time around.
A native of Fermanagh, he spent time as a coach at both Spurs and Manchester United before taking his first job in management. Now, he is already being tipped for top jobs.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Peterborough chairman and Dublin native Darragh MacAnthony said that Kieran McKenna could be a 'dark horse' candidate to replace Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool this summer.
Yeah, I was being laughed out of the studio by [producer] Luke — a Liverpool fan — this morning, as an outside dark horse (to succeed Klopp).
I love his brand of football. I've been watching him since last year in League One and what he's done. You can say that Ipswich are a big club, but they didn't go out and spend mega-millions in the summer.
They kept a large part of the squad and the team from League One and they're top of the Championship with five or six games to go, it's incredible really. It's not just his coaching and managing, it's his style as well. It's great to watch...
I think he's destined for the top. I think he wins promotion with Ipswich this year and he'll surprise people with what he'll do with them in the Premier League and within five or six years, he'll be managing a top-six club.
That's with due respect to Ipswich. I respect everything they've done there, but I don't think you can keep a guy like that down forever.
A move to Liverpool this summer would seem incredibly unlikely for Kieran McKenna, who does not have the type of CV that would normally attract the attentions of England's biggest clubs.
Still, at just 37-years old, it is clear that he is one of the brightest managerial prospects in English football at the moment. Should he lead Ipswich Town to the Premier League, it might not be too long before a big opportunity does come along.
