When the kids are acting out, sit them down and force them to learn about your nation's sporting heroes.
That's exactly what school teacher Seosamh Ó Faircheall did as he taught his pupils a lesson in the art of the centre-back-turned-centre-forward.
Kids misbehaving so making then write out the Wikipedia page of Irish hero Gary Doherty is a lesson that will stay will them forever...

Where was this guy when we were in school!? In school himself, probably, but that is the type of thing we want to see more of, rather than the dreaded "lines" which were nothing other than pointless and demoralising, the kids of Ireland should be learning about the greats that made our fine nation what it is today.
Up with this sort of thing.
In my view, the story of Gary Doherty should be on the curriculum to begin with.
There is, we believe, scope for more punishments in this vein.
Kids who are continually disruptive should be made write out verbatim George Hamilton's commentary in the lead up to Soviet Union's equaliser in Euro 88 (culminating in the words, 'Danger Here!').
Kids who just can't take a hint should be asked to read out Steve Staunton's opening remarks made to the assembled media on assuming the Ireland job in 2006 - to the entire class in their best Louth accent.
For the worst offenders in class, we suggest writing out the entire text of the 2002 Genesis Report into the FAI's practices.
