Eoin Doyle can't stop scoring. The Dubliner, who's currently on loan at Swindon Town, scored a penalty today in the League Two side's win over Cambridge United. It's Doyle's 22nd goal of the season. He's currently the top scorer in all of English football. He's also scored in 11 consecutive league games. To give you some context on how incredible that feat is, Jamie Vardy is the only other player to score in 11 straight league games in England this century (he did so in 2015). Doyle has scored more league goals this season that Robert Lewandowski, Ciro Immobile and Leo Messi.
Swindon currently sit top of League 2 and they owe much of their success to Doyle, who joined the club from Bradford at the beginning of the season.

Can a Bradford fan tell me why did you let Eoin Doyle go out on loan to a league two rival in Swindon?! He has now scored 22 goals in 20 games for them, and are top of your league! Very bizarre..... #bcafc

Unbelievable, Eoin Doyle has now scored in 11 consecutive league games, equalling Harry Morris's all time record!

Doyle spoke to the Indo's Dan McDonnell recently about the challenges of earning a career in England and the ruthless streak that all players need to make it across the pond. Doyle has played with the likes of Hibs, Chesterfield and Preston this decade, but it's with Swindon this season that he's hit a run of form that all strikers dream of.
Given Ireland's glaring lack of goalscoring prowess, we hope Mick McCarthy will at least consider Doyle as a darkhorse for the squad for the upcoming Euro2020 playoff against Slovakia.
