It was an Irish performance which deserved a victory, but until Robbie Brady's 85th minute winner, it looked like Martin O'Neill's side would not get the goal which would send them into the knockout stages of the tournament.
Moments before the goal, Wes Hoolahan - with a seemingly endless amount of time - went through on goal, his shot was easily saved by Salvatore Sirigu.
With the next attack, Hooalhan redeemed himself. A glorious ball found the head of Robbie Brady who nodded past the Italian keeper.
Post-match, of course, the Irish players were elated.
