Irish Player Ratings: In-Depth Roundup Of Our Footballers Abroad

We're back with another set of our Irish player ratings, and they're bigger and better than ever!

We have trawled through the top four divisions in English football to find every Irish player who featured over the weekend, as well as a short summary of how they performed. We've also included footage of all the goals scored by our players across the water.

Here's the ratings in full.

Irish Player Ratings

Premier League

  • Aaron Connolly - Newcastle United 0-3 Brighton & Hove Albion - 8/10 (Who Scored)

Connolly opened his account for the season in some style, producing this fine finish to round off the victory for Brighton.

  • Seamus Coleman - Everton 5-2 West Brom - 7/10 (Liverpool Echo)
  • Callum Robinson - Everton 5-2 West Brom - 7/10 (Birmingham Mail)
  • James McCarthy - Manchester United 1-3 Crystal Palace - 7/10 (Football London)
  • Shane Long - Southampton 2-5 Tottenham Hotspur - 6.1/10 (Who Scored)
  • Jimmy Dunne - Leicester City 4-2 Burnley - 6/10 (Lancs Live)

Dundalk native Jimmy Dunne came out on the losing side on his Premier League debut, but he did manage to find the back of the net with a fine header.

Burnley manager Sean Dyche expressed his delight for Dunne after the game.

It's early in his career, but he's a really solid boy and he's learned a lot since he has come in with us after lockdown. He's been with us all through that and this pre-season period and he's done nicely.

Very pleased for him and very proud of him to get his first Premier League goal. It's a fantastic thing for a youngish player.

Mason scored MK Dons' equaliser in the 59th minute, doing well to take down a tricky high ball and convert beyond the goalkeeper.

Wes Hoolahan scored one goal in Cambridge's win, also being named in the League Two Team of the Week.

 

  • Ian Lawlor - Stevenage 3-0 Oldham Athletic - 9.2/10 (Who Scored)

The goalkeeper was also named in the team of the week despite the defeat, making a total of nine saves in the game.

  • Joshua Kayode - Carlisle 2-0 Southend United - 8.2/10 (Who Scored)

Kayode is the third Irish player in the team of the week, scoring his side's second in the 2-0 win.

  • Richie Towell - Grimsby Town 0-4 Salford City - 8.1/10 (Who Scored)

Towell scored Salford's fourth goal of the game from the penalty spot late on.

  • Harry Charlsey - Leyton Orient 2-2 Mansfield Town - 7.6/10 (Who Scored)
  • Charsley registered an assist and was named man-of-the-match.
  • Corey O'Keefe - Leyton Orient 2-2 Mansfield Town - 6.8/10 (Who Scored)
  • Billy Clarke  - Forest Green 2-2 Bradford City - 6.5/10 (Who Scored)
  • Liam Kinsella - Harrogate Town 2-2 Walsall - 6.4/10 (Who Scored)
  • Eoin Doyle - Colchester United 2-0 Bolton Wanderers - 6.2/10 (Who Scored)

Goalkeeper McKeown had the odd task of facing three penalties during the game, all of which were scored.
