After some wonderful showings from our internationals last time around, this week's performances left a lot to be desired. Seamus Coleman continues to struggle for Everton, while Shane Long only started on the bench despite his goalscoring exploits last week.

There was better news for Alan Browne, who netted his ninth goal of the season. Take a look at the ratings in full:

Irish Player Ratings

Jeff Hendrick started in an unfamiliar right midfield role for Burnley, playing the full 90 minutes in their scoreless draw at Watford. The Lancashire Telegraph rated him at 6/10, saying things never really got going for the midfielder.

Matt Doherty was given a rare break in Wolves' thrilling 4-3 win over Leicester City, only seeing 17 minutes of action.

After being one of the star performers in the league last weekend, Declan Rice had much a quieter outing against Bournemouth on Saturday. The Hammers fell to a 2-0 away defeat, with Football.London giving Rice a 5/10 for his display.

Shane Duffy put in a decent performance despite Brighton's 2-1 loss to Manchester United, with the Brighton & Hove Independent giving the 'dependable as ever' defender a 7/10.

Everton continued their poor recent form, falling to a 2-1 defeat at Southampton. Seamus Coleman played the full 90 minutes, with the Liverpool Echo not too complimentary about his performance (5/10):

In a stellar Everton career, he has revolutionised the right-back position but that has been based upon being a swashbuckling player who pushes forward from deep to do most of his damage in the opposition half.

The Blues captain was not able to do that on this occasion and instead was pinned back trying to deal with the fancy footwork of Nathan Redmond.

Despite his fantastic display last weekend, Shane Long only saw 15 minutes of action from the bench in this game.

Alan Browne continued his excellent form, finding the back of the net for the ninth time in the league this in Preston's 4-1 win at QPR. The Lancashire Evening Post gave him an 8/10, and Browne is quickly playing his way into the Ireland team. Sean Maguire also started the match, with his performance rated at 7/10.

Conor Hourihane registered an assist on Aston Villa's 2-2 home draw with Hull City, being rated as a 6/10 by the Birmingham Mail.

Derby County followed up their FA Cup win at Southampton with a 2-1 home win against Reading, with Richard Keogh captaining the side. The Derby Telegraph gave him a 7/10, and Keogh has been a pillar of consistency for the Rams this season.

Middlesbrough rescued a late home draw against Millwall, with Darren Randolph being rated at 6/10 by the Teeside Gazette. Shaun Williams played the full 90 minutes for the visitors, and Football.London gave him a 7/10 for a solid, if unspectacular, display. Aiden O'Brien was introduced as a substitute in the second half.

Callum O'Dowda contributed to an unhappy debut for his former manager, with Bristol City condemning Nottingham Forest to a 1-0 home defeat in Martin O'Neill's first game in charge. The winger has been strongly linked with a move to Leeds United in this window, and the Bristol Post said he put in a strong display once again in this game:

Energetic and influential display in front of his former Ireland manager and - like Paterson - did everything right except for find the scoring chance as he was unable to convert several half chances.

Darragh Lenihan started for Blackburn in their 2-0 home win over Ipswich Town, with the Lancashire Telegraph rating his performance as a 7/10. Alan Judge made his debut for the visitors, with the East Anglian Daily Times encouraged by his display in a 6/10 rated showing.

It was not a good weekend for Ireland's Sheffield United contingent, who fell to a 1-0 defeat at Swansea. John Egan and David McGoldrick were both rated at 6/10 by The Star, while Enda Stevens was given a slightly better 7/10.
