It feels like we've been here for three months at this stage but, in reality, the Irish invasion of France has been going on for less than a week. Granted, it's less of an invasion and more akin to the largest leaving cert holiday you've seen since the class of 2012 headed off to Poland but a little hyperbole is always welcome as long as we're still involved and doing ourselves proud on and off the pitch.
If you're becoming a little bit jaded and unsure as to how these fans are able to hack this kind of pace, then rest assured, you're not the only one. And yet, night after night, we're inundated with yet more and more stories, photos and videos of the scenes, firstly in Paris and now along the west coast in La Rochelle, Bordeaux and Arcachon.
Over the past few days, much of the revelry in Bordeaux has been centred around the Connemara Pub on Cours Albert to such an extent that the decision was taken to shut up shop for a few hours last night to let the coolers have a break and disperse some of the crowd that had been there all day long.
But that's not to say the party stopped there.
There's been any amount of videos sent home from France but this is easily one of our favourites.
And as if that wasn't enough to make you wish you'd taken the plunge, blown off work and jumped on the next flight just to savour the atmosphere, then this may help you to get to that point of deep regret.
We don't envy them this week but it seems the Bordeaux gendarmerie have figured out exactly how to keep things nice and relaxed with the Irish fans ahead of Saturday's game. We're on the lookout for video evidence of this so if anyone out in France wakes up with borderline fresh memory this morning, check your phone and see if you have anything to share with the rest of us.
Big thanks again to everyone who's making the Facebook Group such an enjoyable snapshot of everything that's going on in France this summer (it's not too late to join).
