Irish 'Keeper Ian Lawlor Was The Hero In An FA Cup Penalty Shoot Out Last Night

Republic of Ireland Under 21 goalkeeper Ian Lawlor was the hero for Bury in an FA Cup penalty shoot-out last night.

Lawlor is on loan from Manchester City, and saved two spot kicks to ensure Bury progress to the fourth round at the expense of Bradford.

His manager David Flitcroft was effusive in his praise:

The first save [in the shoot-out] was immaculate. It set the tone - outstanding.

Steve Parkin [Bradford's assistant manager] came over and said 'Wow, the way he managed the game - he looked like a seasoned pro'.

His overall performance was pristine.

Both the original tie and the replay finished goalless, meaning that Lawlor was forced into heroics at the end.
