Last week Manchester United played LA Galaxy in a pre-season friendly at the Rose Bowl, with the red devils running out 7-0 winners in Louis Van Gaal's first match in charge. After the game, one fan decided to see if he could get in on the action, as he ran on to the pitch, kicked the match ball, shaked hands with United player Reece James, and then got absolutely levelled by the security staff. Today it has emerged that the fan in question was Matthew Costigan, an Irish student in LA on a J1 summer work visa.

He even made it on to TV, kind of.

Hopefully he wasn't too badly hurt and can laugh about the difference in the aggression of security staff in the Rose Bowl compared to Croke Park.
