That said, the Boys in Green have a fine tradition of playing in the States. In fact, Thursday night will mark the 20thtime Ireland have played an international in the US - an astonishing number! That's A LOT of catering to the American diaspora and the 'St Patty's Day' brigade.
There have been some memorable matches in that time - mainly in 1994. The majority of games have been friendlies though, dressed up with some marketing. I'm sure you remember where you were for the 2000 US Cup?
