With all the hullabaloo surrounding the world record purchase of Brazil number one Alisson Becker, you could be forgiven for forgetting that there may perhaps be an Irish solution to Liverpool's goalkeeping woes.
19-year-old Irish prospect Caoimhin Kelleher served a gentle reminder to the public in Liverpool's friendly win against Blackburn this evening. Kelleher came on in place of the much maligned Lloris Karius on 59 minutes and although the youngster didn't have much work to do, it is testament to how highly Jurgen Klopp rates the Cork native that he even made an appearance.
Kelleher could be in with a decent shout of being Liverpool's second or third choice 'keeper this season, with uncertainty surrounding the futures of both Lloris Karius and Simon Mignolet, and fellow 19-year-old Kamil Grabara the only other serious competition for the spot.
Meanwhile Liverpool notched their second win of preseason thanks to strikes from Lazar Markovic and Daniel Sturridge.
Forgotten man Markovic opened the scoring for the Reds in the second half, finishing smartly after being played through by Daniel Sturridge:
