Irish teenager Armstrong Okoflex has left Premier League club Arsenal to join Scottish Champions Celtic.
According to The Daily Record, the 16-year-old turned down a contract with Arsenal in favour of a new deal in Scotland. Okoflex is a former St. Kevins Boy's FC player who joined Arsenal five years ago. He has played under-15 international soccer for both Ireland and England but last year told the Irish Times he feels a closer connection to Ireland.
Ireland is where I’m from but England is financially better and the grounds are amazing. I enjoy playing with both but obviously I’m Irish so I feel the connection with them.
Okoflex featured for the Arsenal U18's last season. He can play on the left wing or as a striker and won the Victory Shield with Ireland last year, which included an excellent goal against Scotland.
His deal was first reported by attentive Celtic fans, who spotted the youngster at the club training grounds.
