Ireland's Louise Quinn will make a return to England tonight when her Fiorentina team take on high flying Manchester City the UEFA Women's Champions League Last 16.
City also boasts Irish representation through Megan Campbell, although she has struggled with injury in recent months and will unfortunately not be in the lineup tonight to go up against her international teammate.
The round-of-16 first leg is being played in Manchester and will be broadcast live on BT Sport 2 from 16:30 this evening.
Veteran Irish defender Quinn has made a bright start to her stint in Italian football since moving to Fiorentina from Arsenal last year. Last January, Quinn hit headlines after her 65th-minute header completed a comeback win over AC Milan in the semi-finals of the Italian Super Cup.
Quinn featured in Fiorentina's subsequent 2-0 loss to Juventus in the Super Cup final.
Fiorentina defeated Slava Praha 3-2 on aggregate in the round-of-32 to advance to the next round. A 1-0 away win in December confirmed the victory. The club currently sit fifth in the Serie A table.
Manchester City, meanwhile, are flying high in the FA Women's Super League, sitting just two points behind Chelsea. Not to be outdone by their male counterparts, they are also currently on an 11 game winning streak in all competitions.
Speaking before tonight's match, City manager Gareth Taylor said, "There are a lot of really good teams at this stage – the last 16. It’s a good opportunity for us to progress. We know they’re a difficult team to play against."
Chelsea are also in action this evening, when they will face Atlético Madrid. The London side go into the 7pm tie after a 5-0 win over Bristol City in the Women's Super League.
