Robbie Keane may not be picking up MVP again this year but at referee Alan Kelly is picking up some of the slack when it comes to the Irish in America. The former League of Ireland referee headed to the MLS in 2014 and already he's picking up the referee of the year award with a staggering majority of the votes.

The award is decided through a mix of votes from clubs, media and players and, as you can see, Kelly was a clear winner in all three categories.

The Corkman has long been held up as Ireland's top referee and this award is sure to only increase his standing on an international stage. It's not often you get to celebrate the achievements of referees so a hearty fair play is in order for Kelly.
