Vera Pauw has named her Ireland squad for a training camp in Spain and a friendly against AFC Women’s Asian Cup winner China PR on February 22nd in Cadiz.
There are first-time call-ups for Manchester United centre-back Aoife Mannion and Washington Spirit midfielder Marissa Sheva both of whom recently received FIFA international clearance.
Mannion, who represented England at underage level, has roots in Connacht through her mother who hails from Mayo and her father from Galway. Sheva has connections with Tyrone through her grandfather and Donegal through her grandmother.
Ruesha Littlejohn, Megan Connolly and Heather Payne all return to the squad after missing last November’s 4-0 win over Morocco.
Durham WFC goalkeeper Naoisha McAloon and Glasgow City defender Claire Walsh are brought in following impressive spells at club level.
Injuries rule out Niamh Fahey, Savannah McCarthy, Chloe Mustaki, Ellen Molloy, Jess Ziu, Aoife Colvill and Leanne Kiernan.
The squad will assemble in Spain on Monday, February 13th to begin the training camp as their preparations for the 2023 World Cup ramp up.
