11 years ago today, Ireland faced Germany in a crucial World Cup group stage game. We had drawn our first game, 1-1, with Cameroon and were 1-0 down against Germany until Robbie Keane equalised at the death.
I was stuck doing the Leaving Cert at the time, we had rushed to the pub to see the first half after English Paper 1 but had to leave at the start of the second half.
The sense of relief which echoed that hall when the exam supervisor announced that Robbie had scored was palpable and freed worried minds to better express their thoughts on Hamlet and Seamus Heaney.
Where were you on that day?
