Stephen Kenny has been hit with several blows ahead of the Ireland U21 team's Euro 2021 U21 Championship qualifiers against Armenia and Sweden.
Caoimhin Kelleher, Conor Masterson, Neil Farrugia, Michael Obafemi and Trevor Clarke have all been ruled out for the game against Armenia which takes place in Yerevan on November 14th. The FAI did not say if the five will be available to play Sweden on November 19th.
As a result, Kenny has called five players into the squad.
West Ham striker Anthony Scully and Birmingham's Corey O'Keeffe (currently on loan at Macclesfield) get their first U21 call-ups.
Gavin Bazunu, Simon Power and Kameron Ledwidge also come back into the squad.
Jayson Molumby and Lee O'Connor will miss the game against Armenia due to suspension and then join up with the squad ahead of the game against Sweden.
Ireland sit top of Group 1 with ten points. Though, they have played a game more than second-placed Iceland who have nine points and two more than third-placed Italy who have seven points.
