There are some exciting talents coming through the Republic of Ireland youth ranks at the moment, with Celtic academy product Rocco Vata at the very top of that list.

Born in Scotland to former Hoops star Rudi Vata and an Irish mother, he would join the club at the age of just seven. He would go on to star for the Celtic's youth sides, also declaring his international allegiances to Ireland.

While Vata was an incredibly highly rated prospect at Parkhead, he found first team opportunities difficult to come by. He would make just a handful of senior appearances for the club over the last couple of seasons.

Despite this, Celtic were keen to keep him as he approached the end of his contract last month. However, after garnering interest from numerous clubs throughout Europe, he would ultimately opt to sign for Watford.

Rocco Vata will be looking to make his mark in the Championship this season, although there may be some regrets about the way his time at Celtic drew to close.

Writing on Instagram, the 19-year old admitted that his time in Glasgow had come to an end 'earlier than expected'.

My 12 years at Celtic comes to an end earlier than expected.

Would like to thank all the staff I've worked with throughout the years for developing me into the player and person I am today, and the fans who believed in me and supported me.

I wish Celtic all the best next year.

Celtic may well regret the lack of opportunities they gave to Rocco Vata, with the Ireland U21 international looking as though he has the potential to have a big future in the game.

Having moved on from his boyhood club, he will be keen to make a big impression at Watford over the coming months.
