While Irish supporters may not have a lot to cheer about with the senior team, the U19s are in a rich vein of form, with their comeback win against the Netherlands sealing their progress from the European Championships qualifying group as group winners.
It wasn't the best of starts from Tom Mohan's men at the City Calling Stadium in Longford, who found themselves 1-0 down after 15 minutes, but the side battled hard to get back on level terms, with Norwich City striker Adam Idah bringing the sides level on the half hour mark.
Southampton's Will Ferry then gave Ireland the lead with 20 minutes to go, and his goal proved to be decisive in a victory which sees Ireland go top of the group with three wins from three, having beat Bosnia & Herzegovina and the Faroe Islands.
Ireland now progress to the Elite Round, where they will face another three teams, with the winner of that group going on to the European Championships.
