The Republic of Ireland Under-17s have beaten Poland 1-0 today to land top spot in their group and qualify for next month's Under 17 European Championships in Europe.
The result marks a superb achievement by head coach Colin O'Brien and his squad who won today thanks to a Troy Parrott penalty. It means the side qualify with six wins from six, 18 goals, five clean sheets and top seeding for the tournament.

Today's game in Legnica caps an extraordinary month for the side, who also beat Georgia earlier in the week 2-0 to qualify for the tournament. In 2017, the U17's made it to the quarter-finals of the competition.
The Republic of Ireland has only won the tournament once in their history, in 1998.
The game is just one of several significant games for Irish football today, with the U19s currently in action against Portugal where a win would secure a place at the Euros.
