Anyone looking to understand the attitudes of Irish sporting public and their hierarchy of interest need only to check out the top 10 most-watched sports programs of 2011 (aka the top 10 most watched shows on RTE last year). GAA dominates, though the early start of Ireland's Rugby World Cup matches clearly had some effect on that. But what a relatively poor performance from The Boys in Green. The second leg off the playoff with Estonia came fifth, while first leg of Ireland's playoff tie with Estonia - played on a Friday night - then came 7th. We can be sure that the nation will be football mad come June but it's worth noting that before that, it's obvious that on some level, Ireland has tuned Trap out.
