There are quite a few very talented Ireland youth players coming through at the moment, but what will excite Irish fans most is how many of them are attacking players. Trent Kone-Doherty certainly falls into that category.
Evan Ferguson has already established himself at Premier League and international level, but he is not the only teenager making their way in the game right. The likes of Justin Ferizaj, Rocco Vatta, and Kevin Zefi are just some of the attacking talents that are currently progressing through the various age groups in green.
Then you have Trent Kone-Doherty.
A product of Derry City, the exciting winger drew interest from a huge number of clubs in England since his early teens. He would ultimately opt to sign for Liverpool, moving to Merseyside in a £150,000 deal in the summer of 2022.
Irish youth Trent Kone-Doherty nets hat-trick for Liverpool
Trent Kone-Doherty has been excelling at Liverpool ever since that move. He scored seven goals in the U18 Premier League last season, as well as notching three in the UEFA Youth League. At 17-years old, he has also been called up to train with the first team on a few occasions.
The Ireland youth star has also made the step up to U21 level this season, although he also continued to play with the U18s. That included in a fixture against Sunderland this afternoon, where the player would score a hat-trick in a 7-1 win.

What a talent.
Trent Kone-Doherty was called up to the Ireland U19 squad back in September and is likely to be quickly progressed through the age groups if he continues to produce this sort of form.
As for his prospects at Liverpool, while it will always be a tough ask to make a first team breakthrough at Anfield, he is clearly one of the best players at his age group. The opportunity to train with the senior players at the club should bring him on quite a bit.
That opportunity is only likely to become more frequent after showings such as this one.
