With the summer transfer window now in full flow, quite a few players from Ireland have already been on the move in recent weeks.

Nathan Collins' transfer to Brentford has been the most eye-catching one, with the centre back breaking his own Irish transfer record in a £23million move from Wolves. As well as that, the likes of Dara O'Shea (Burnley) and Chiedozie Ogbene (Luton Town) have also been part of notable deals.

It is unlikely that they will be the only players switching clubs before the end of the window. A number of Ireland internationals, such as Jason Knight and Andrew Omobamidele, have been linked with numerous clubs in recent weeks.

It seems as though one of our most promising youngsters is also drawing plenty of interest.

The Sun are reporting that Premier League newbies Luton Town are among the clubs interested in signing Tom Cannon on loan from Everton. As well as that, Championship clubs Sunderland and Preston are also interested in his services.

It would be interesting to see how he fared in the top flight should he be given the opportunity. Luton Town are keen to add some quality to their squad ahead of the campaign, having also signed Chiedozie Ogbene on a free transfer.

If he is guaranteed consistent playing time, a move to Kenilworth Road would be ideal.

The Merseyside native has only been capped in green on a handful of occasions, with his time in the youth setup curtailed by the cancelling of fixtures during the covid pandemic.

England U21 manager Lee Carsley is thought to be keen to bring him into his squad for next after their recent Euros win, although the former Everton midfielder has also been mentioned as the FAI's ideal replacement for Stephen Kenny if he loses his job at some stage this year.
