France have released what has been described as a Banshees of Inisherin inspired poster ahead of tonight's Euro 2024 qualifier against Ireland at the Aviva Stadium.

The poster sees five of the French players - Griezmann and Mbappe are out in front of course - playing on a pitch that looks to be in the heart of the West or North West of Ireland.

A few Irish twitter folk have commented 'Le Banshees de Inisherin' on the post, while another quipped, 'I presume this image is retaliation for the 'je suis une baguette' guy'.

It is certainly quite a stereotyped view of Ireland, and only missing a pint of Guinness and a leprechaun.

If we wanted to clutch at some more straws, we would say that it could be used as powerful motivation for the changing room walls this evening.

Thankfully, France coach Didier Deschamps and captain Kylien Mbappe were more respectful when discussing Ireland's game.

"They are a technical team," said Deschamps.

"From what I have seen, they use less direct play and long balls. It will be a different game, with the crowd pushing as well. It's a high level and it's up to us to do no less."

"I want to make (have) the most dangerous team possible.

“Ireland are known for being direct and vertical in how they play but from what I’ve seen in recent games they are capable of playing the ball along the ground as well."

"They have a reputation for playing a physical style but they also play a lot of good football, so it is not going to be easy for us. We will have to be aggressive and we have to play our game," echoed Mbappe.
