Ireland footy fans were not all pleased with RTE this evening as the Irish Open coverage ate into the time allotted for the build-up to Ireland's Euro 2024 qualifier against the Netherlands.
It was due to begin at 7pm, but with the golf running over time, it did not begin until around twenty minutes past, with the match kicking off at 7.45.
Ireland supporters took to Twitter to vent their frustrations, shook that any sport could take precedence over the soccer.
While they were quite dismissive of the golf - especially considering it was taking up the build-up rather than the match itself - they were correct to point out that RTE could easily have shifted the golf coverage to the news channel.
Ireland Football Fans Rage As RTE Show Golf Over Netherlands Build-Up
Christ, @RTEsport, don't you have the RTÉ News channel to switch the golf over to rather than completely mess up the pre-match coverage? #Irened

Would it really have been so difficult to put one of these on RTE 1 or the News Now channel from 7pm? https://t.co/qh0f09CtCA

Who on Earth makes this decision? Crazy. I had to spend 2mins a go waiting on ads on RTE Player to flick through the channels to see if they had it on somewhere else but no. Sort it out #rte https://t.co/tvSwVmMKPM
