Ireland have risen two places to 29th in the latest FIFA rankings. The previous update to the standings had been back in early June.
Northern Ireland have also moved up two places - they are still ahead of the Republic in 27th.
England are now ranked sixth in the world after the World Cup semi-final appearance. That is a jump of six places from their position prior to the tournament.
France are now the number one ranked team with Belgium in second and Brazil, Croatia (up 16 places) and Uruguay (up nine) filling out the top five.
Germany are one of the big movers down the table. They have fallen from being the number one team prior to the World Cup to now being 15th.
Wales are down one place to 19th while Scotland are up two to 40th.
With the latest rankings comes the introduction of a new formula for calculating points. A greater emphasis has been placed on the importance of games.
It should also prevent teams from gaming the rankings by either playing very few friendly matches or playing against lower ranked teams.
