The mystifying and widely discredited FIFA/Coca-Cola World Rankings have today been updated, and it doesn't make good viewing for Martin O'Neill and Roy Keane's men. The Irish side have dropped 4 places to 70th, ahead of Trinidad & Tobago, United Arab Emirates, and Haiti, but behind the likes of El Salvador, Libya, and Jordan. Spain remain at #1.
Northern Ireland are down 6 places to 90th, and Scotland are down 5 places to 27th, but there is some positive news for Wales who are up 4 places to 41.
While these rankings have no meaning in terms of the strength of the teams ranked, they do have some implications for tournament qualification seedings, so it's important the boys in green start to pick up a few wins in the near future.
