Ireland welcome old rivals England to Dublin in the UEFA Nations League on Saturday in a fixture which feels significant for a number of reasons.

Both teams are embarking on new eras; the occasion marking Heimir Hallgrimsson's first match in charge of Ireland with Lee Carsley - a top candidate in the FAI's search - taking to the opposite dugout.

The hosts have been in a lengthy slump which Stephen Kenny could not solve, while England's latest Euros final defeat has prompted change at the top.

Ireland have not qualified for a major tournament since Euro 2016. It was at that event where Hallgrimsson's Iceland stunned England en route to the quarter-finals.

Safe to say there is plenty of cause for intrigue going into this weekend as Irish soccer looks for a much-needed lift.

The fixture - which marks the beginning of the campaign for both nations - has been given top billing and will be broadcast by multiple different stations live as it happens on Saturday.

RTÉ, as ever, has the coverage of the clash on these shores, while ITV will show the fixture on free TV in the United Kingdom.

Peter Collins will host RTÉ's showing of the eagerly-awaited bout. Former Ireland goalkeeper Shay Given as well as ex-Ireland striker Richie Sadlier will provide analysis alongside the straight-shooting Didi Hamann.

Darragh Maloney will be in the commentary box with Ronnie Whelan - a stalwart during an era in which Ireland frequently frustrated their rivals.

Meanwhile on ITV, there is a typically star-studded selection with Roy Keane among the pundits on duty for the game.

Keane will work alongside Ian Wright and presenter Mark Pougatch in studio, with Sam Matterface and Andros Townsend on commentary.
