Quite a few Ireland internationals had transfer moves over the summer, many of whom have experienced contrasting fortunes since then.

The likes of Dara O'Shea, Aaron Connolly, Troy Parrott, and Nathan Collins have thrived at their new clubs and have seen their stock rise over the last few months. Of those who have struggled since their switches, no player has been quite as unfortunate as Andrew Omobamidele.

His move to Nottingham Forest was seen as a potential big break, with the defender getting the big money Premier League move that many had been anticipating over the last couple of years. Of course, Forest had also signed a huge number of players over the last 18 months and had a very bloated squad.

The transfer has turned out to be a disaster up to this point, with Omobamidele yet to feature for the club. He has only been included on the bench on two occasions.

Andrew Omobamidele could be on the way out of Nottingham Forest

According to the Daily Mail journalist Tom Collomosse, Andrew Omobamidele might well be on his way out of the club in January.

New manager Nuno Espirito Santo is said to be keen to trim what is a bloated squad and the Irishman seems like an obvious candidate to move on considering his lack of playing time. It remains to be seen if this switch would be on a temporary or permanent basis.

Omobamidele would certainly draw interest from plenty of clubs in the Championship, while the likes of AC Milan were linked during the summer.

Where ever he does end up, it's clear that he needs to leave Nottingham Forest if he is to avoid his development stalling at a key point in his career.

The sooner that moves comes, the better for everyone involved.
