When it comes to centre backs, there is no doubt that Ireland are blessed in that particular position. Stephen Kenny has a number of brilliant options at his disposal, all of whom have proven more than capable of performing at international when called upon.
John Egan has been a rock at the back for Ireland for quite some time. As well as that, the exciting young trio of Nathan Collins, Andrew Omobamidele, and Dara O'Shea will ensure that we will be well served in that spot for years to come.
Collins has already been involved in a couple of big transfer deals in his career, with Omobamidele linked with an exciting move of his own this summer. There had been less indications that we would see O'Shea on the move, with the Dubliner well settled at West Brom and captaining the side last season.
However, it seems that there have been some discussions going on behind the scenes.
Ireland defender Dara O'Shea set for Premier League move
Sky Sports are reporting that Dara O'Shea is close to making a move to Burnley.
There had been few rumours about a potential move for the 24-year old, although the broadcaster suggest that he could have a medical as soon as tomorrow as the two clubs are close to agreeing terms on the move.

This would be a brilliant move for O'Shea.
Playing Premier League football is always an exciting prospect, with Burnley an exciting place to be at the moment. Vincent Kompany had the team playing some exhilarating football last season and has shown a propensity for developing players.
Ireland fans need only look at the way he has affected the career of Josh Cullen at Anderlecht and then Burnley to see his influence.
O'Shea would likely to feature heavily for the club in the upcoming campaign. While there has been no indication on the potential transfer fee at this point, it seems likely that it would take a sizeable bid to pry him from West Brom.
Having spent his entire career at The Hawthorns, it will be interesting to see how he fares in new surroundings in the months ahead.
