Ireland have continued their ascent in the FIFA rankings by climbing to 62 in the world. The Boys In Green moved up four places since the last update last month after securing back-to-back wins over Oman and Georgia respectively.
World Cup Champions Germany retain the coveted top berth while Argentina are a distant second. Across the water, England moved up two positions to 18th and Scotland have fallen back one place to joint 29th where they join Wales who improved from 41 in the last list. Meanwhile, Northern Ireland soared 24 spots to 71 after a solid win over Hungary in the Euro 2016 qualifiers.
The next FIFA ranking update will be released on October 24.
