Intimidation towards referees is nothing new in football but this clip below from the Kuwaiti league is surely one of the most extreme examples of sporting misconduct.
The unnamed referee of the Kuwaiti Premier League match between Al Naser and Al Arabi awarded a penalty against Al Naser only to be surrounded and pushed by their furious players.
The official had no hesitation in hitting back however, knocking one Al Naser player to the ground with a left hook and following it up with a swift kick to another.
Incredibly, play continued after numerous red cards were issued to both players and coaches only for an Al Naser player to kick the ball directly at the ref before the match was finally abandoned....and we thought Paolo Di Canio crossed the line!
