Yesterday we brought you the rather troubling news via Gary Cooke's mouth that the national broadcaster is considering canning Apres Match for Euro 2016 due to budget restrictions created by the Olympics and the underwhelming Rebellion programme.
We can happily assuage those fears this afternoon. A Balls.ie source has come forward to reveal that although no decisions have been made yet about Euro 2016 programming, there is no reason to suggest that the beloved post-football programme will be scrapped. Balls.ie readers on Facebook were furious with the rumours, but there is a strong sense that, despite Cooke'a anxities, there are no major barriers to restrict the programme from being brought back.
RTE however have decided not to comment officially on the matter. "It's too early to make any comment on our Euro 2016 programming, an announcement will be made in due course," an RTE spokesperson stated.
Watch this space. It won't be the same without Billo, but the Euros without Apres Match won't be the Euros at all.
